Claws

Claws are like fingernails that some animals have at the ends of their paws. They can look very different depending on the animal that has them. Some claws are long and sharp like a tiger's, while others are short and round like a dog's.

Animals use their claws for many different things. Some use them for hunting and catching prey. A lion, for example, uses its claws to grab and hold onto its prey while it bites it.

Other animals use their claws for defense. A porcupine, for example, has sharp claws on its feet that it can use to defend itself from predators.

Claws can also be used for climbing. A cat's sharp claws help it climb up trees and other tall objects.

When an animal's claws get too long, they may need to file them down. Some animals, like cats, do this by scratching on rough surfaces like trees or cat scratching posts.

Overall, claws are really important for many animals. They help them do things like hunt, defend themselves, and climb.
