Clay court

So, imagine going to the beach and playing with sand. You can make sandcastles and dig tunnels, right? Now imagine doing that, but instead of sand, you have a special kind of dirt called clay. Clay is very soft and easy to shape, just like sand.

People use this type of dirt to make a special tennis court called a clay court. On the court, there are stripes painted on the clay to show where the ball should go.

When players hit the ball during a tennis game, they make a big cloud of clay dust because the clay is so soft. This can make it hard for players to see and breathe, but it also helps make the game more interesting and challenging. The ball moves differently on the clay than it does on other types of court surfaces, so players need to play the game differently too.

Overall, playing on a clay court is like playing in a giant sandbox where tennis is the game.
