Clinical documentation improvement

Clinical documentation improvement (CDI) is the process of making sure that medical records are accurate, complete and up-to-date. It helps doctors keep track of the care a patient has received, and provides detailed information to other healthcare providers who might need it. CDI also helps hospitals and health insurance companies make sure they are paying the right amount for the services they provide. To do this, CDI specialists review patient records and look for any omissions, mistakes or unclear information. They then work with the healthcare provider or patient to make sure the record is accurate and complete.
