Clock hypothesis

Okay kiddo, so do you know what a clock is? It's something that tells you the time, right? Now, scientists have a fancy idea called the "clock hypothesis" which is like imagining that every living thing has a little clock inside them that helps them tell the time.

But this clock isn't like the ones we use to wake up in the morning or know when to go to bed. It's actually more like a timer that works with the Sun or the moon to help living things know when to do certain things.

For example, some birds know when it's time to migrate or fly South for the winter because their internal clocks tell them when the days are getting shorter and colder. Even some insects know when it's time to come out of their cocoons because of their internal clocks.

Scientists are still trying to understand how these internal clocks work and why some living things have them while others don't. But it's pretty amazing to think that even without a watch or a phone, some living things know exactly what time it is!
