Cognitive closure (philosophy)

Cognitive closure is a philosophical idea that says that we humans want to understand things and come to a definite answer. It means that once we understand something, our minds like to feel close to really understanding it, so it gives us a sense of satisfaction. Some examples of cognitive closure are when you figure out a math problem, getting a good explanation for something, or understanding how something works.
