ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cokurtosis

Have you ever played with blocks that come in different shapes and sizes? Let's say you have two buckets of blocks, one with big and small square blocks and the other with big and small triangle blocks.

Now imagine that you take one big square block and one small square block from the first bucket, and one big triangle block and one small triangle block from the second bucket. You put the four blocks together to create a tower.

Cokurtosis is like looking at how the blocks fit together in the tower. If the big square block and the big triangle block are both really tall, and the small square block and the small triangle block are both really short, that means they are similar in size. This is called high cokurtosis.

But if the big square block and the small triangle block are tall, and the big triangle block and the small square block are short, that means they are different in size. This is called low cokurtosis.

Cokurtosis helps us understand how different things fit together in patterns. Just like how we can see if the blocks in our tower all fit together nicely or if they don't quite match up, cokurtosis can show us if different pieces of data fit together in a similar way or not.
