Collective identity is like when a group of people (such as a school, sports team, club, or even a whole country) become like one big family. Even though each person in the group still has their own individual personality, they all share the same characteristics and values, making them feel like they are all a part of something bigger. For example, if you go to the same school as your friends, you might feel like you're part of a school family that looks out for each other and works together. That feeling of belonging is known as collective identity.
