ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Comcast Corp. v. FCC

Okay kiddo, let me explain it to you in an easy way. Comcast is a company that provides cable TV and internet services to people like us. Now, the FCC is a group of people who make rules to make sure that companies like Comcast play fair and don't do things that hurt us, the customers.

But, there was a problem. Comcast didn't want to follow one of the rules made by the FCC. The rule said that Comcast can't slow down internet for some websites or services and speed it up for others. This is called "net neutrality".

Comcast didn't agree with this rule and they asked a court to say that FCC doesn't have the authority to make such rules. So, the case was called "Comcast Corp. v. FCC".

Now, the court listened to both sides of the story and finally decided that the FCC did not have the authority to stop Comcast from slowing down internet for some websites or services. This means that Comcast can now do what it wants, which is not good for people who use the internet because it might become unfair and expensive for some of them.

So, people are now worried about how the internet will be in the future and if all companies will now do what Comcast did. It's still a big debate going on, and we will have to wait and see what happens next.
