Comfort behaviour in animals

When an animal is happy, it does things to make itself even happier. Similar to how you hug your teddy bear when you're feeling sad or scared, animals also have certain actions that make them feel better. We call these actions "comfort behaviours."

For example, have you ever seen a dog that loves to chew on a special toy when it's feeling stressed out? That's a comfort behaviour! Or maybe you've seen a cat that likes to groom itself when it's feeling calm and relaxed? That's another comfort behaviour!

Comfort behaviours can be different for each animal, just like how different toys or activities make you happy. And just like how you might need to take a nap or eat a snack to feel better, animals also have certain things they need to do to make themselves feel comfortable and happy.
