ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States

Okay, so the Constitution is like the rules of a game called "How to Run a Country." And some really smart people wrote those rules a long time ago, but sometimes we need help understanding what they meant when they wrote it.

So imagine you have a really cool puzzle that you don't quite understand. You might go ask someone who is really good at puzzles to help you out, right? Well, that's kind of like what people do when they read the Constitution. They go ask really smart people (often called "lawyers" or "judges") to explain what the Constitution means.

These explanations are called "commentaries." They're like guides to help us understand all the different parts of the Constitution. Some commentaries might focus on just one part of the document, like the Bill of Rights, while others might cover the whole thing.

Basically, commentaries help us understand how to follow the rules of "How to Run a Country" so we can make sure we're doing it right.
