A community exchange system is a way for people to buy and sell goods and services with each other, but instead of using money, they use a special type of currency that is only used within the community. This currency, also called a "community currency" is usually backed by different kinds of resources or services that members of the community are willing to trade. For example, a community could set up a system where people can exchange 1 hour of gardening services for 3 hours of computer services. This way, people can get what they need without having to use money.
