Community informatics

Community informatics is about using technology to connect people with each other and with the information they need to build strong, healthy communities. It is kind of like a "community internet," where people can learn about their community and take action to make it better. Examples of things people are able to do through community informatics are sharing pictures and news, shopping online, finding jobs, getting involved in local activities, and communicating with people near and far. Basically, through community informatics, people are able to use computers, mobile phones, and the internet to strengthen the community that they live in.
