ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Community mental health service

Hey kiddo, do you know what mental health is? It's a part of our health that has to do with how we feel, think, and act. Just like how we take care of our body by eating healthy food and exercising, we also need to take care of our mind by staying happy and positive.

Sometimes our mind may not feel good, and we need help to feel better. That's where community mental health services come in! It’s like visiting a doctor for your mind where people can talk to someone who can help them through their tough times.

Community mental health services help people who are experiencing mental health problems. These services are available in the community, meaning they are close to where you live. The people who work in these services are trained to help people who are struggling with things like depression, anxiety, or other mental health problems.

They offer a safe place for these people to talk about their feelings and emotions. Just like how doctors and nurses help us when we’re sick, these mental health professionals help people who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

These services are usually free or low cost, and you don't need to have money or insurance to access them. It's important to remember that it's okay to ask for help and seek support when you're not feeling well mentally, and community mental health services are here to help you.
