Commuting zone

Okay kiddo, so a commuting zone is an area where people live and work. It's like a big circle around a city, and people travel in and out of the circle to go to work.

Imagine you live in a town and your mommy works in the city. Every morning, she gets in the car and drives to the city to go to work. She's traveling from your town to the city, and that's part of the commuting zone.

Now let's say there are lots of other people who live in your town and work in the city too. They all travel to the same place for work, so that forms a bigger commuting zone.

This bigger commuting zone is important because it shows how many people depend on the city for work. It also helps government officials and businesses plan and make decisions about things like transportation and job opportunities.

So next time you take a car ride with your family, look around and think about all the other people who might be commuting to the same place you are!
