ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Complex cell

Imagine you have a special eye that can see lots of different lines and shapes. This special eye helps you figure out what things are even when they look a little different. That's kind of like how a complex cell in your brain works!

Complex cells are special cells in your brain that help you see things even when they're moving or changing shape a little bit. They're like little detectives that look at all the lines and shapes of things you see, and put them together to make a picture. And they're really good at their job!

For example, imagine you're trying to catch a ball that's moving through the air. Your eyes need to work together to see the ball, and your complex cells help them do that. They can tell that the ball is still the same thing, even though it's moving around and getting bigger and smaller. And that helps you catch it!

Complex cells are important for lots of things we do, like playing sports, driving a car, or even just walking around. So next time you're doing something tricky, remember that your complex cells are helping you out!
