Composition in visual arts is like a jigsaw puzzle: you have a lot of pieces (shapes, colors, and textures) and you have to arrange them in a way that looks pleasing and makes sense. Think of a painting – the shapes, colors, and textures are all put together in a deliberate, meaningful way. The composition of a painting (or other artwork) can help express emotion, tell a story, or get across a message.
