Conditional independence

Conditional independence means that the outcome of one event does not affect the outcome of another event. It's like two people flipping coins; the outcome of one person flipping a coin (whether it lands on heads or tails) doesn't affect the outcome of the other person's coin flip. The two results are independent of one another.
