ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Conductivity (electrolytic)

Okay kiddo, have you ever played a game where you had to pass a message to your friends by whispering in each other's ears? Well, metal crystals are like friends and the message is electricity!

Conductivity is how well electricity can travel through a material. Just like how some people are better at whispering messages compared to others, some materials are better at conducting electricity than others. The better a material is at conducting electricity, the higher its conductivity.

Electrolytic conductivity is a special type of conductivity. It's when a solution or a liquid substance can conduct electricity. Imagine a cup of water that has some salt dissolved in it. The salt water can conduct electricity because the salt has ions that are able to move around in the solution, carrying the electric current.

Some substances can also be made to conduct electricity better by adding impurities or other chemicals to them. This is called doping. Just like how a juice with extra flavoring can taste better, a doped material can conduct electricity better than the undoped version of itself!

So that's conductivity in a nutshell, kiddo. It's like a game of telephone, but with metal crystals and electricity!
