Configuration interaction

Configuration interaction is a way to try and get a better answer when trying to figure out how particles in an atom interact with each other. Basically, it looks at how each particle in the atom can move in different ways and then works out which of the ways is best. To do this it uses mathematics to work out the different ways the particles might interact and then it looks at all the different ways to see which is best.
