ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Consecrated virgin

A consecrated virgin is someone who has decided to devote their life to God and follow Jesus without getting married. It's kind of like being a nun, but instead of living in a church with other nuns, a consecrated virgin gets to live in their own home and do everyday things, like go to work or go grocery shopping.

To become a consecrated virgin, a woman must go through a special ceremony where she promises to live her life for God and follow the teachings of the Catholic Church. This ceremony is called "ordination" and it's kind of like a wedding, where the woman is given a special ring as a symbol of her commitment to God.

Once she is consecrated, the woman is considered to be a "bride of Christ," which means that she has a special relationship with Jesus, and is considered to be part of his family. She still gets to have friends and family, and do things that make her happy, but she always puts God first in everything she does.

Being a consecrated virgin is a very special choice, and not everyone is called to do it. But for those who feel like it's the right path for them, it can be a very rewarding and fulfilling way to serve God and live their life in a meaningful way.
