Content disarm and reconstruction (CDR) is a way of protecting your computer and the data on it. It works like this: First, the computer takes a piece of data (like a file or a document) and takes it apart. Then, it pieces together the parts that it thinks are safe, creating a new version. Finally, it checks the new version to make sure it’s safe and then it’s ready to use. By doing this, any parts of the data that could be dangerous or malicious (like a virus) are removed, and you’re left with a piece of data that is safe to use.
