ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Continental Airlines Flight 1713

Continental Airlines Flight 1713 was an airplane that crashed on November 15, 1987, in Denver, Colorado. The plane was taking off during a snowstorm, and it did not have enough time to gain altitude before it crashed into a field.

The reason why the plane crashed is because there were a few problems that all happened at the same time. First, there was snow and ice on the ground, which made it hard for the plane to get moving. Second, the pilots made a mistake by not using a part of the plane that would have helped it take off better. Finally, there was a warning system that should have told the pilots that something was wrong, but it didn't work.

All of these things together made it impossible for the plane to fly properly, and it crashed. Sadly, there were 28 people on board the plane who were killed in the crash. This was a very tragic event, and it reminds us how important it is to make sure things are working properly and to take safety seriously.
