ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Control of fire by early humans

Early humans learned to control fire by discovering how to make and control it. Fire allowed them to cook their food, scare away animals, keep warm and provide light. They used sticks to make sparks and create heat and then used collected wood to make a flame. With that, they were able to make a fire that would keep burning until it ran out of fuel. With controlled fire, early humans were able to do many things that were not possible before—like roast food, create tools, and even make clothes.
