Convection

Convection is a type of heat transfer — it's how heat moves around. Heat moves from a warmer area to a cooler one. Convection happens when warm air (or any other substance like water or gas) rises and moves away from the heat source, and cooler air takes its place. This cycle of warm air rising, moving away, and cool air taking its place repeats over and over, so the heat can spread around.
