ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Convolution

Convolutions are like puzzles. Imagine you have a big picture made up of many small pieces. To put the picture together, you will need to match the different pieces with each other. That's what convolutions do. Instead of matching puzzle pieces, convolution helps us to analyze how different pieces of information fit together. For example, convolutions can tell us how an image of a person is made up of different shapes and how these shapes interact with each other.
