Cooling pond

A cooling pond is a body of water that is used to cool hot water that has come from a power plant or other industrial facility. It works by allowing the hot water to flow into the pond, then as the water moves through the pond, the heat from the water is dissipated into the air by the sun and breeze. The water then leaves the pond cooler than it was when it came in! Cooling ponds help protect the environment by keeping the hot water from being released into rivers or streams.
