Solar pond

A solar pond is a big pool of salty water that uses the sun's energy to store heat. The sun's energy makes the salty water warmer than the water around it, so the warmer water rises up to the top and the colder water stays at the bottom. This creates a layer of warm water in the middle of the pond. Energy from the sun is called solar energy. Solar energy is a free, renewable, and clean energy source. Solar ponds are helpful because they store the sun's energy, which can be used later to generate electricity, heat homes and buildings, or provide hot water for other uses.
