ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Core curriculum

Imagine you love going to school and learning new things. But instead of learning whatever you want, the school has a list of things that they want you to learn. That list is called the core curriculum.

The core curriculum is like a big checklist of things that you have to learn during your time in school. You will learn math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. These things are important and will help you become a smart and well-rounded person.

Think of it like a recipe for a cake. If you want the cake to turn out delicious, you have to follow the recipe step by step. The core curriculum is like that recipe for learning. It tells you what you need to learn to be successful in the future.

So, your teacher will help you and your classmates work through the core curriculum. You will learn lots of new things and get better at skills you already know. And one day, when you're older, you'll look back and be proud that you completed the core curriculum and learned so much!
