ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Corn whiskey

Corn whiskey is a type of alcohol that is made from corn. It's kind of like how you can make apple juice from apples. But instead of using apples, we use corn.

First, the corn is ground up into a fine powder called "grits" and then boiled with water. This makes a sweet liquid, kind of like corn juice. The liquid is then cooled down and mixed with a special kind of yeast that helps turn the sugar in the liquid into alcohol.

After about a week, the liquid has turned into a mixture of alcohol and water, which is called "mash". The mash is heated up, and the alcohol evaporates out of the liquid. It's like when you boil water and the steam that comes out is just water.

The alcohol vapor is collected and cooled down until it turns back into a liquid. This liquid is now corn whiskey!

Corn whiskey can taste a little different than other types of whiskey because it's made mostly from corn. It can have a sweet taste, and sometimes people even add a little bit of honey to make it taste even sweeter.

Remember, corn whiskey is only for grown-ups to enjoy!
