ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Corporate law

Corporate law is all about how businesses are formed, governed, and how they interact with people. When someone starts a business, they have to decide how it will be structured. For example, they might decide to form a corporation, which is a type of business that is owned by shareholders. These shareholders have to follow certain laws and regulations that are designed to protect them and other people who work for different companies. Corporate law also covers things like contracts, employment law, corporate governance, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and other regulations. When a company follows corporate law, it makes sure that everyone is treated fairly and the company is run in a safe and respectful manner.
