Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of the Roman Empire? It was a really big and powerful empire that existed a long time ago. During that time, the people in charge of the empire wrote a lot of things down on rocks, walls, and other hard surfaces. This writing was in a language called Latin.

Now, many years later, people want to learn more about what life was like back then. So, they collect all of these writings and put them in a big book called Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum, which means "Collection of Latin Inscriptions" in fancy language.

This book has lots and lots of pages full of Latin writings that tell stories about what happened a long time ago. Some are about important people like kings and emperors, and some are about regular people like farmers and merchants.

People who study history and archaeology use this book to learn more about the people who lived in the Roman Empire and what they did. It helps them piece together the past and understand how things were different back then.
