ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Council of the European Union

Well, imagine if you and your friends wanted to plan a really fun day out. But, you all have different ideas about what you want to do and where you want to go. It might be hard to agree on something, right?

Well, imagine if there were lots of countries in Europe that wanted to make decisions together. Some countries might want to focus on helping the environment, while others might want to focus on making sure people have jobs. They might have different ideas about how to do that, just like you and your friends might have different ideas about what fun things to do.

The Council of the European Union is a group of representatives from all the countries in the European Union. They meet together to talk about important issues that affect all the countries in Europe, like how to help each other when there is a crisis, or how to make laws that are fair for everyone.

Just like you and your friends might need to compromise and find a solution that works for everyone, the representatives from the different countries in the Council of the European Union need to work together to make decisions that are fair and help everyone. It can be a big job, but they are all trying to make sure that Europe is a safe and happy place for everyone to live.
