Counting on Frameworks

Counting on frameworks is like having a special tool that helps you count things in a way that is easier and faster. It's like using your fingers to help you count.

Let's say you have a group of apples and you want to count how many there are. Instead of counting one by one, you can use a counting-on framework like a number line or a ten frame.

A number line is like a line with numbers on it. You can start at the first number and add on how many apples you have. If you have three apples, you start at one and count up three spaces to get to four. So, you have four apples altogether.

A ten frame is like a box with ten spaces in it. You can put one apple in each space until it's full, which means you have ten apples. If you only have three apples, you can put three in and count how many spaces are empty. In this case, there would be seven empty spaces left, so you have three apples and seven spaces left.

Using these frameworks helps you count things much faster and more accurately. And once you know how to use them, you can apply them to all sorts of counting situations.
