Covariance operator

A covariance operator is a way of measuring how two different variables change together. For example, if one variable goes up, does the other variable go up, go down, or stay the same? A covariance operator measures how the two variables move together, and can tell you if the two variables move in opposite directions (negative covariance) or in the same direction (positive covariance).
