Okay kiddo, so have you ever built a sandcastle at the beach? Well, imagine building a sandcastle but instead of using sand, we use something called soil.
Now, we’re not just building a castle, we’re building a whole house! We’re going to use this soil to make the walls and roof of the house.
But, how can we make sure our house is strong and won’t fall apart? This is where Craterre comes in. Craterre is a special type of building technique that has been used for thousands of years.
Basically, we mix the soil with some straw and a little bit of water. Then, we put this mixture into special molds to make shaped bricks. These bricks are then left in the sun to dry for a few days.
Once they’re dry, we can use them to build our house. We stack the bricks on top of each other, kind of like building with Legos.
The reason this works so well is because the straw makes the soil mixture stronger and more durable. It also helps to hold everything together.
So there you have it, Craterre is a special way of building houses using soil, straw, and water to make bricks, which are then stacked to create a strong and sturdy home. Isn’t that cool?
