Critical thermal maximum

Okay kiddo, have you ever noticed that when you are outside in the hot sun for too long, you start to feel really hot and uncomfortable? Your body can only take so much heat before it reaches its limit, just like how your toy car can only go so fast before it reaches its limit.

Now, there is a special term for the maximum amount of heat that an animal's body can handle before it gets really sick or even dies. This term is called the "critical thermal maximum."

Think of it like a thermometer in your body that shows how hot your body can get before bad things start to happen. Just like how you have to be careful not to touch a hot stove or you will get burned, animals must be careful not to get too hot or their bodies won't be able to work properly.

Different animals can handle different amounts of heat before reaching their critical thermal maximum. For example, some animals that live in really hot places like deserts or near volcanoes can handle much more heat than animals that live in colder climates.

So, the critical thermal maximum is like a warning sign for animals to keep themselves safe and not get too hot. It's important to always pay attention to our bodies and make sure we stay within safe temperature limits to stay healthy and happy.
