Crossroads village

A crossroads village is a type of town that was built over a long time ago when there weren't many cars or highways. These towns were built at important places where roads intersected. That's why they're called crossroads villages.

Think of it like this: let's say you're driving your wagon (or car, if you prefer) on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Suddenly you come to a "crossroads," where two roads cross each other.
