ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Crush, Tear, Curl

Imagine you have a piece of paper in your hand. If you grab the paper and squeeze it really hard, you will crush it. This means that the paper will become all wrinkled and look different from before.

Now, if you take that crumpled paper and try to rip it into smaller pieces, you will tear it. This means that the paper will have little bits missing from it where you ripped it.

Finally, if you take those ripped up pieces of paper and curl them into little balls, you will have curled them. This means that the paper will look like tiny balls or tubes instead of being flat like it was before.

Crush, tear, and curl are all things that can happen to paper (or other things too) when you manipulate them with your hands.
