Crushed stone

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a construction site where they are building a new road or a new building? Well, crushed stone is a very important material that they use in those projects!

Crushed stone starts out as big rocks that are mined from the ground. Then it gets crushed by big machines into smaller pieces. The different sizes of crushed stone are used for different reasons in construction. The smaller pieces are used for things like making concrete or asphalt. The bigger pieces might be used for things like riprap, which is used to protect shorelines from erosion.

Crushed stone is also sometimes used for decoration in people's yards or gardens. You might see it around flower beds or as a pathway.

So, in summary, crushed stone is a rock that has been crushed into smaller pieces that are used in construction and landscaping projects.
