Cue mark

Okay, so have you ever watched a movie or a show on TV? Sometimes you might notice a little dot or a line that quickly shows up at the top right corner of the screen. That little thing is called a cue mark.

The cue mark is a special signal that tells someone when to do something during a movie or TV show. It's usually used to tell the projectionist (the person who puts on the movie or the show) when to switch to the next reel of film.

When you see the cue mark, it means that something is about to change. So, it gives the projectionist a warning that they need to be ready to switch out the old reel of film and put in the next one.

Sometimes, though, you might see a cue mark in a TV show or a movie that's streaming online. That's because even though we don't use film reels anymore, cue marks are still used to help video editors make sure everything is lined up right when they're putting the scenes together.

So there you have it, a cue mark is a little signal that helps people who are showing or making a movie or TV show know when something is about to change.
