Culloden, Highland
Okay kiddo, so a long long time ago in Scotland, there were these people called the Highlanders who lived there. They were very different from the other people who lived there because they had their own language, dress, and traditions.
But one day, a really big and important battle called the Battle of Culloden happened between the Highlanders and some other people called the British. It was a really sad day because a lot of people got hurt or lost their lives.
After the battle, the British started to change things in Scotland. They didn't like the Highlanders' culture, so they tried to get rid of it. They made it against the law to wear Highland clothing, play the bagpipes, and speak the Highlander language. They even destroyed the Highlanders homes.
