A cultural critic is someone who looks at work like books, movies, plays, art and TV shows and makes an opinion on the ideas these things present and how they affect people. They can also look at events and write about how these shape and influence cultures, or how things like race, gender, and power may be portrayed in the work. They help us think about and understand the cultural messages we're seeing, which can help us make decisions about what we might like and not like, or how we might agree or disagree with certain people or events.
