Peru is a big place with lots of different people who lived there a long time ago, and they had different ways of living and doing things. We call these different ways of living "cultural periods."
The first cultural period in Peru was a very long time ago, even before there were any written records. This period is called the pre-Ceramic period, and people lived by hunting and gathering food. They made things like simple baskets and tools from natural materials.
After that came the early Ceramic period. This was when people started to make pottery, which is like a clay cup or bowl, and they began farming crops like maize (a kind of corn) and beans. They also made textiles, which are fabrics that they wove from fibers like cotton or wool.
Next came the Middle Horizon period, when the people of Peru began to build big structures like temples and palaces. They also made beautiful works of art, like pottery and textiles with intricate designs.
The Late Intermediate period saw the emergence of great civilizations like the Chimú and the Nasca. These people built huge cities with impressive architecture, and they had complex social structures with rulers and different social classes.
Finally, the last major cultural period in Peru was the Inca Empire. The Incas were very powerful and built a vast empire across much of South America. They had a highly organized government and built amazing structures like Machu Picchu.
Each of these cultural periods in Peru had its own unique traditions, customs, beliefs, and ways of doing things. By learning about these different periods, we can better understand the rich history and culture of Peru.
