Cultural-historical activity theory (CHAT)

Cultural-historical activity theory (CHAT) is a theory that looks at how people interact with their environment to help them solve problems and create new things. It is based on the idea that when we work together, we use activities to produce things—from simple things like cleaning our room, to more complex activities like writing a book or making a movie. According to this theory, the way we do an activity is important in understanding how we can be successful. People use things like language, tools, and resources to work together and make their activities successful. By studying how people interact with their environment, we can learn more about how to solve problems and produce new things.
