Cuttlebone

Cuttlebone is a hard thing that comes from a sea animal called a cuttlefish. The cuttlebone is like the skeleton of the cuttlefish and it's shaped like a little flat oval.

Cuttlebone is useful because it has calcium in it, which is really important for some animals like birds and some kinds of snails and turtles. These animals need calcium to grow strong shells or bones.

Sometimes people even use cuttlebone for their pet birds to nibble on and keep their beaks healthy. But even if you don't have a pet that needs a cuttlebone, they're still really cool to look at!
