Cyclotron

A cyclotron is a machine that is used to speed up tiny particles like electrons or protons in a circular, or cyclic way. The particles are put inside the machine and given an electrical charge, which makes them move faster and faster in circles. As they move around, they gain more and more energy, but stay in the same place. The cyclotron is often used in research in particle physics to learn more about atoms and elements.
