Czech and Slovak Federative Republic
Okay kiddo, so a long time ago, there was a country called Czechoslovakia. But then some people in the country didn't agree on how things should be run, and they decided to split into two countries: Czech Republic and Slovakia.
But before they split, they decided to try something called a "federative republic." That means that even though they were two different countries, they would still work together and share some things like an army and a government.
It was kind of like two siblings who have their own rooms and toys, but still have to share some things like the bathroom and the kitchen.
But this didn't last very long, and they eventually decided to separate completely into two different countries with their own government and everything.
