ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

DNSS point

DNS (Domain Name System) is like a phone book but for websites. Just like how you look up the name of the person you want to call in a phone book, your computer looks up the name of the website you want to visit in DNS.

DNS Pointing is when you change the address in the phone book to point to a new place. Imagine if your friend moved to a new house and got a new phone number. You would need to change their address in your phone book to their new address so that you can call them at their new home.

Similarly, if a website changes its location or is hosted on a different server, you need to update the address in DNS so that when you type in the website's name, your computer knows where to find it. Updating the address is called "DNS pointing."

Overall, DNS pointing is just like updating your phone book when your friend moves to a new house. You need to change the address so that your computer knows where to find the website you want to visit.
