Daemon (computing)

Daemons are computer programs that run in the background, usually without any kind of user interaction. They are used to do important tasks like making sure your computer is secure, running scheduled tasks, and sometimes providing helpful services like printing documents or playing music. A daemon might be started at the same time as the computer, and it will just silently run until it's finished or something needs it to do something else.
