Darcy (unit)

Darcy is a way to measure how good something is at letting water or other liquids flow through it. It's like a scale that tells you how easy or hard it is for water to pass through something like soil or rocks.

Let's pretend you're playing in a sandbox and you build a little mountain out of sand. If you pour water on top of the mountain, some of it will flow down the sides and soak into the sand. The darcy unit is like a way to measure how fast the water is soaking into the sand.

If the sand is very loose and grainy, the water will soak in quickly and the darcy unit will be high. But if the sand is very compact and hard, the water will soak in slowly and the darcy unit will be low.

So basically, the darcy unit is a way to measure how quickly or slowly liquid can flow through something. It helps people figure out how to make things like irrigation systems or oil drills work better.
